Code of Conduct
Each member must affirm, accept and sign in binding, the following code of conduct.
I hold sacred the inalienable right to all men/women to protect themselves by the use of self-defense. I further hold that those who are trained in the ancient arts of self-defense take upon themselves obligations and responsibilities, which I now freely take upon myself. I therefore pledge the following:
That I shall never misuse my skill to maliciously hurt or make afraid.
That I shall fight if forced to defend myself, I shall be slow to anger, loathe, to take offense, quick to forgive, and ever to forget personal affront.
That pride shall never rule my passions.
That I will defend with all the skills I possess, the weak, the helpless and the oppressed.
I pledge an unswerving loyalty to my instructor and those who have gone before me.
I pledge a continued effort to sharpen my skill, to increase my knowledge and to broaden my horizons.
I understand that as a member of the BKF, I accept the BKF Mission Statement to be my own goal. I furthermore understand that it is every members responsibility to avoid, stop or report any activities that would refelect a Negative image on the BKF.
I understand that the private affairs of other members and instructors that come to my attention during the exercising of my responsibilities are priviledged communications and must never be discussed with anyone for any reason.
I vow that I will never violate this code for the sake of profit.
I recognize the right and necessity for order and regulation within the Arts and accept the right of the BKF to govern its own affairs by mutual consent without any outside interference.
When speaking with those within this Federation, I shall make no statement that will detract in any way from the frame or reputation of any of my fellow members.
When speaking of those belonging to another system or different Art, I shall strive to say only those things I know to be fact, avoiding with all diligence any hearsay and gossip.
